Dr. Denise Flanagan, DDS
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Denise Flanagan is an experienced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with decades of clinical experience, recognized for her surgical expertise, commitment to patient-centered care, and distinguished academic accomplishments. She is notably the first female to complete the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at the Indiana University Medical Center. A graduate of the Indiana University School of Dentistry and the IU Medical Center OMS Residency, Dr. Flanagan has earned numerous honors — including awards from the International College of Dentists, Quintessence Publishing, and the American Academy of Oral Medicine — and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society. Her academic background includes NIH-sponsored research and national presentations on dental materials and antimicrobial science. She is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and an active member of the Indiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ISOMS). Dr. Flanagan founded Oral Surgeons of Indiana in 1998 and continues to provide comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical services to patients across the community. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending quality time with her two young adult children.

Dr. R.J. Stuart III, DDS
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Richard (RJ) Stuart III is a skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon who joined the practice in 2024. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Dr. Stuart attended Park Tudor High School and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting, as well as a Master's degree in Information Systems from Indiana University. After briefly working as an information systems consultant, he decided to pursue a career in the dental field and became the fourth dentist in his family. In 2019, he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry, where he was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Stuart then underwent four years of rigorous training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at West Virginia University, with a special emphasis on tooth extractions, dental implants, and anesthesia. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and an active member of the Indiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ISOMS). His clinical interests include in-office anesthesia, third molar extractions, and complex rehabilitation with dental implants. Dr. Stuart enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathleen, and their children, Richie and Mary Kate. In his free time, he enjoys cycling, home improvement projects, playing Yahtzee, and traveling.

Dr. Michael Wirey, DDS
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Michael Wirey was born and raised in Indiana, growing up in Greenwood and attending Center Grove High School. He joined the practice in 2025. He went on to study at Indiana University Bloomington, where he graduated with highest distinction and completed multiple degrees within four years. He then earned his dental degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Following dental school, Dr. Wirey completed advanced anesthesia training through the Dental Anesthesia Fellowship at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesia. He then continued his surgical training at West Virginia University, completing an internship and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery — encompassing the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including extensive experience in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant reconstruction, and anesthesia and sedation techniques for outpatient procedures. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and an active member of the Indiana Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ISOMS). Outside the office, Dr. Wirey enjoys cheering on IU sports, reading fiction, and spending time with his wife Magy, their three children, and their family dog, Charlie.
